Winds
Aloft Keep Them Down (+0 Miles)
Photo Operation Migration Signs of autumn, signs of change: "For the first time on this migration the wind chill is a factor," reported Liz from camp in Winnebago County, Illinois. Temp at 4:00am was 40F but the wind chill makes it feel like 35F. Aloft, the wind is out of the NW at a powerful 30-40mph. That's not flying weather for the young birds and trikes. It's their second day down at this location. Liz tells us, "The last time we were as far as Winnebago County, Illinois on Migration Day #10 was way back in 2005." Will tomorrow bring them further? Stay tuned. Meanwhile, do some migration math, below.
