In the Classroom: Journal or Discussion

  • (a) How would you describe a crane's foot? (See photo at top.) What do you wonder? What do you hypothesize? Draw the tracks you think cranes make. Record your observations on the journal page called Scientific Observation.
  • (b-for-bonus) Cranes walk both on land and in water. How are their feet and legs suitable for both field and pond or marsh? For help with your answer, see Crane Adaptations: The Legs and Feet.

Journey North is pleased to feature this educational adventure presented in cooperation with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP).
