See (b-for-bonus) below for a question about this photo.

Everyone expected a takeoff after the great weather forecast for today. Alas, the weather changed! Winds picked up, and rain was predicted at the next stopover. That means Down Day 5 in Union County, KY. Meanwhile, our questions have something fun to do. Let's hope to fly tomorrow!

In
the Classroom: Journal or
Discussion
(a) How many stops away are they from the next state? Through which states does the migration travel? Color the states they've completed on your journal map.
(b-for-bonus) Study the photo above. The cranes are now 6-7 months old. Notice their coloring. Then click on the photo to observe what they'll look like as adult cranes. What differences do you see? Write (or draw and color) your observations in your journal. How have YOU changed since you were born?
Teachers: If your school is within 30 or 40 miles of the migration route, you are invited to contact educators and Operation Migration volunteers Gordon and Christine to ask about a classroom visit.
