Week 15: 46-Mile Gain (Total Gone: 849 Miles)

Weekly Update

After being grounded 8 days in Chilton County, Alabama, the migration took off when winds turned favorable today. Brooke and the six birds departed for Lowndes County, Alabama. After a 40-minute rodeo, they finally got on course. One bird dropped out near the end, but all made it safely at stop 19. That leaves four more stopovers before their final flight into St. Marks NWR. Cooperative birds and some tailwinds could shorten the number of flights. Keep your fingers crossed! Until next Monday, stay in touch with daily updates and video cams at Operation Migration. We're getting close!
