Week One: Stalled at Stopover #1 (5 Miles)
October 5, 2015
Weekly Updates

After a good start on September 30, the young cranes were grounded on migration days 2-6 in Green County, WI due to fog, winds or mist. To fend off boredom, the team gives the young birds interesting treats such as pumpkins. They spend happy hours in their top-netted pen pecking the seeds out! The weather rules this 1200-mile journey across seven states to reach their wintering grounds, and everyone's fingers are crossed daily for the right weather. Join us next Monday for our weekly progress summary, or see daily updates and video cams at Operation Migration.

The young cranes attack pumpkins for amusement on no-fly days.
