Whoopers for Wisconsin?

Role Assignment

Read the following situation. Your job will be to persuade the International Whooping Crane Recovery Team to agree with your group's perspective, so read carefully, taking on the role of

Senate Candidate Committee:

You are extremely eager to break into state politics. The race against the incumbent will be close. The papers say it could go either way at this point.

Even though you are originally from a small town located near one of the sites, you are aware that another site sees many more visitors annually and they are located closer to a larger population base. You also know that people in Wisconsin are behind green spaces and access to them.

You have a degree in political science of a Wisconsin university and while in college, were a member of the Wildlife Society there. You have been trying to decide which site to support. You have talked with your staffers and have learned that one potential release site is far better biologically for whooping cranes than the site having the most visitors. Unfortunately, that area shows extremely low voter turnout in the polls.

This third site is located near the neighboring state's capital. These have a very active Friends organization that brings in many funds from that state. Most visitors o that site stay, eat and live in the other state, and drive over for shot time periods to visit.
