How to Use this Journal Page in Your Classroom
Students can use the map (right) as a page in their journal
to mark in many ways appropriate to their age and ability. Ideas to spark your
own:
- Identify
and draw the route
- Trace
migration progress with colored markers
- Label
stopover sites
- Locate
geographic features
- Color
the respective states as the birds arrive or leave
- Note
dates, distances, notable events
- Write
your own title on the map page
Assessment note: You and students can also use the journal pages
to assess understanding of their migration route knowledge.
