What's Next for #735?
WCEP is discussing options. We may bring #735 back to Wisconsin.
There we can maintain the isolation protocol, do more
regular physical therapy,
and
give
her more time to heal.
It's still unclear if she'll get better, but everyone wants to
give her a chance. Since she already learned the migration route
south, she should have no trouble migrating in the future —if
she's eventually released in Wisconsin.
We're
hopeful that eventually she'll recover. But if she doesn't,
she will be welcomed into the captive
population for her valuable genetics. Stay tuned — and keep
your fingers crossed for #735!
WHAT
HAPPENED NEXT:
In July 2008, #735 went to a new home to become a parent bird
in the future. She will live at Audubon Species Survival Center
in New Orleans, LA. The Eastern Migratory population
was reduced by one with her departure.
