A few days after arrival, the cranes usually have health checks. The Disney Health Check Team of world-class wildlife veterinarians performs the checks. This is also when the ICF banding team gives each crane the leg bands with lifelong banding color codes. The
crane wears a hood over its head for most of the process. Not
seeing the humans and their equipment helps the bird be calmer, and the humans
can work without covering their
own
hands and faces.
