The large enclosure at St. Marks is surrounded by fencing.

Banded and healthy, the cranes can freely come and go from their large enclosure. Plastic fencing with a reinforced bottom edge surrounds the pen. St. Marks is a 70,000-acre refuge with much wildlife, including crane predators. The fence keeps bobcats and wild pigs from digging under to get inside and eat the crane food—or the cranes!
