Gray
Whale Antics
-
This
spout (or blow) tells us that the whale is breathing! It takes in
air through a double blowhole near the top of its head.
-
When
the warm, moist air inside the whale leaves the blowhole, you can
see — and hear — the spout. The noisy stream can go 10
to 15 feet above the water!
-
You
can tell a gray whale spout because it looks like a heart shape from
the front or behind.

Can
you find the heart-shaped blow?
