Do the Maps Tell Us?
Look at the first map below. It shows where
rufous hummers have been reported in the East in the past month
or so. (The circle shows where the one on the last page was
reported.)
Now look at the second map. The purple and orange colors
show where most rufous hummingbirds spend the winter.
Think:
Why were these reported sightings unusual? How would
you explain them?
