Rufous Hummingbirds Gone Astray?

In the winter of 2008, observers in the Eastern U.S. reported something that might seem strange: rufous hummers hanging around!

January 19: "We've had two short-lived snow storms here in Gainesville, Georgia the past few days," said one observer. "But nothing my rufous hummingbird couldn't withstand. He showed up in October and has been here every day since."
