As an Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) in a new school, I saw the Journey North Tulip Study as an innovative and exciting way to collaborate with teachers and build student and faculty relationships.

Incorporating Journey North and VoiceThread, which is an online media album, provided an opportunity for the students to participate in group conversations which can be viewed, commented on, and even edited. The seventh grade students viewed the coming of spring through the posted weekly animated data maps and their field observations which are posted on the VoiceThread. They will continue to report their observations, make predictions, develop ideas, and present new questions for our future Journey North Tulip projects.

Security Concerns?

If you, the thread "owner", choose the option to monitor comments, the comments won't appear unless you approve them. If you have an email address you can register and comment (but the comments may be held until they are viewed and approved). VoiceThread offers a free Educator account with unlimited VoiceThreads. It's kind of tricky finding it, but the help, FAQ and forum links are pretty helpful. I have set my Voicethread so that I monitor comments before they are posted.
