Snow and Ice
Weather maps look more like early February than early March. As of March 4, NOAA reports that 53.9% of the lower 48 states are snow covered. There is snow as far south as Texas and Arkansas where it is rare in early March. Ice cover on the Great Lakes is now the most widespread in 35 years. Experts say the ice will act to chill the surrounding land masses slowing spring's arrival and Test garden emergence.
