I teach interdisciplinary environmental studies at a resource center for
gifted students. I also serve as educational curator at a wildlife
rehabilitation center, possess and use several birds of prey and reptiles
in my classes. I would be happy to exchange curriculum ideas.

This fall, I am teaching a class called the Rain Forest Connection,
comparing our local, endangered ecosystem, the Longleaf Pine Forest and
relevant issues to the Rain Forest ecosystem and issues. I am looking for
activities, resources which involve South American Rain Forests and which
would be appropriate for gifted 7th and 8th graders.

My other class, Coyotes in the Crosswalk (named after the recent Sierra
Club publication) is about urban wildlife. I would be grateful for
activities, resources appropriate for gifted 3rd through 5th graders.

I have also just acquired two exotic reptiles for my classroom (escapees
brought to our rehabilitation center): an iguana and a blue-tongued
skink. I am also looking for curriculum ideas, juvenile literature, etc.
which involve these guys.

I would be happy to exchange curriculum ideas/resources involving birds of
prey, and other wildlife native to our S.E. U.S.A. region.

Thanks!!!
