When you watch migrating monarchs, flying in the air or visiting your garden, find ways to quantify (count or measure) what you're seeing. For example, tell us how many monarchs you count per minute — or how your observation compares to what you saw yesterday, last week, or last year.
"I counted 254 monarchs in 3.5 hours. Migrating dragonflies also filled the sky this afternoon," wrote Don Davis from Toronto, Ontario on September 23, 2017
"I would estimate there were 250 — 25 plants with 10+ monarchs each — plus quite a few flying around and on some other smaller plants like aster," wrote Sian Ferguson of Toronto, Ontario on Sept 24, 2017.
