    Challenge question #2

Some reasons why North American owls breed in mid and late winter
may be as follows. One reason is that there are less predators during
the winter months. Another reason may be so the eggs do not overheat
and kill the unborn chicks. Owls have high body temperatures. Eggs
that are laid in the spring or summer months may become too hot. In
conclusion, owls born in early spring would have an abundant food
supply. Therefore increasing their chances of survival.
