Highlights:
U25 continues to push toward her nest site in Newfoundland. Will she use the 2006 nest? U21 appears to have moved into the flight pattern she used last spring. Will she continue to follow it? Stay tuned!

Peter Nye believes the timing of an eagle's departure from New York is a clue to its ultimate destination. The further north the eagle's nest, he theorizes, the later it leaves New York. This suggests the eagle has an incredible sense of timing. Is this true for our 3 eagles this spring? What do you think? >>

Journey North for Kids >>
We can learn a lot about eagles by tracking their movements. For 13 years Journey North has been tracking eagles in New York state with Pete "Eagle-eye" Nye. Tracking the eagles using satellite transmitters has helped identify essential habitat areas, nesting sites and patterns of eagle movements.

Eagle satellite transmitter is put on like a backpack.

Nye fits transmitters to young fledgling eagles when he climbs into the nest, and mature eagles that are net trapped.

How does "Eagle-eye" put the transmitter backpack on a strong and often fierce bald eagle? This job takes a couple of people to do it safely.

Journal Questions: What Will the Summer Bring?

All good scientists have more questions than answers. Today’s map and data show the eagles positions for the past week, but also give us clues about what the rest of the summer might bring.

Study the map and create a list of questions you would like to have answered.
