Hummingbirds arrived in New Baden, Texas around April 28. On May 6, the females started to arrive. As the photo shows, Lydia Shipley has seen as many as 7 females to 1 male on one feeder. It is easy to pick out all the females by the white tips on their tail feathers. Females tend to eat peacefully together on the feeder until a male approaches, then they all scatter.
