There is a fascinating pattern line of sightings across the migration map this week. Perhaps the hummers were held in place by last week's weather. Get ready for the build-up to zip northward in the coming days!
"I've had a feeder up for a week, but as usual, when the first columbines burst into bloom yesterday, a male RT showed up today. Now the fun begins!" reported Sara.

Finding Early Blooms
Your early hummingbird arrives, and at first look you wonder what flowers would he find to eat in nature. Take some time to explore your area for the early bloomers.
Please let us know what wildflowers are blooming for the hummingbirds arriving now. Report to the nectaring map.
Other Western Species
Rufous continued to move eastward into Montana and Idaho last week. Broad-tailed hummers arrived in Colorado, and more Caliopes were spotted along the western US/Canadian border.
