As May comes to a close, monarchs are busy producing their next generation in the north:

Excited monarch spotters in Sault Ste. Marie, ON reported, "We have seen two monarchs as of Sunday May, 20/07. It is starting to warm up here now, so we expect to see more soon. But now we can welcome summer, the monarchs are here!"

"The peak spring egg laying has occurred in Minneapolis and St. Paul." After extreme temperature drop and return of average temperatures a Minneapolis spotter reported a flush of egg laying. Within a 3-day period they counted 74 eggs on their milkweed.
