Welcome!
The spring 2008 robin migration season is just around the corner! While more robins are staying in wintry places (see the maps above), their joyous spring song still gives them an unbeatable claim to fame as favorite harbingers of spring. We're glad you're here to welcome them, and to make new discoveries about robins in changing times. Why do you think we have 3 different maps? What do you notice about the location of those yellow stars? The answers will soon unfold. But first, a roll call!
Robin Round-up: Where Are Robins in the Winter?

Where are robins spending the winter of 2008? Let's find out! It's time to take attendance. Please join our Winter Robin Round-up Feb. 5-18)! Here's what to do:

Go outside and look for robins. Ask your neighbors if they have seen robins. Contact your friends and relatives in other parts of North America. Ask everybody you know to help you look for robins. Then report your results by February 18 by clicking the word "Sightings" on the navigation bar above. Together we'll all answer the question as we make our Winter Robin Round-up Map starting NOW.

From the photo, what things do birds do to stay warm and dry during a snowfall?
If it's 6 degrees outside, what is the temperature difference between the air and the bird’s heart and lungs? Find out here... >>
