Excitement
in Mexico! |
Meet
Estela Romero. Estela lives in Angangueo, Michoacan,
very near the monarch sanctuaries. She is fluent in English and
helps with all the translations between Journey North and Mexico.
Estela is like an ambassador, delivering your butterflies to classrooms
where they will stay through the winter — just like the real
monarchs.
Born
and raised in Angangueo, Estela is proud that her family goes back
many generations in this important mountain town. We're so happy
she's part of the team!
Classroom
Visits
Estela uses her time in the classroom to share the story that your
symbolic monarchs represent. She gives each student a butterfly.
The students each read the message included with their paper butterfly.
Then they participate in a classroom activity. She reviews the important
lessons of monarch habitat conservation with the students.
Many of them know the life cycle and habits of this precious shared
resource.
Now
it is their turn to say "Gracias!" |

Very
Special Deliveries |
Students'
contributions have helped protect the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries
in Mexico in many ways. Saving the sanctuaries is a challenge because
the people who live there depend on the forest for survival too,
just like the monarchs. The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Foundation
(MBSF) is helping to protect and conserve the lands the monarchs
need for winter survival. All student donations support the MBSF's
important work.
