Woo-HOO! Stopover #3 (+23.7 Miles) October 25, 2007: Migration Day 13 Photo Crhis Gullikson, Operation Migration Progress! Chris and his ultralight led the way, but all the pilots got into action in a sky rodeo when the birds soon scattered instead of following. Eventually 14 birds flew to the pen in Sauk County and #716 and #727 arrived in boxes in the vehicles of Charlie and Megan. Who's missing? Crane #710 went AWOL soon after take-off! Tracking on the ground, Bev and Nate scanned for radio signals with handheld antennas and receivers. After delivering #716, Charlie drove back to help. Top cover pilots Don and Paula searched from the air. Everyone was scrambling on this migration day — breaking down camp for the move and getting the pen and motor homes set up and ready at the next stop — AND catching #710! Sauk County is still in Wisconsin but just one more stop remains before they cross the Illinois border.
