October 26, 2007: Migration Day 14

Photo Operation Migration

No flight today. Things looked good-to-go on the ground, but misty skies full of moisture make poor flying conditions for the birds. It was windy aloft, and rain showers were moving in to the area where the cranes and planes would be heading. After playiing hide and seek with #710 until darkness came yesterday, do you think the team and #710 are glad for a day of rest?

In the Classroom

  • Today's Journal Question:
    (a) Why do you think the pilots want cold, clear air on migration days? Write your thoughts, then listen to Joe discuss it. >>
  • Migration Math: Winds aloft were blowing at 10 knots out of the southeast. Find out how to convert knots to miles per hour and convert the wind speed.
