A new pilot? No, but a true friend to the Crane-kids! Find out what Nadia did to help Operation Migration! >>

Again, the weather is stalling departure from Morgan County, Indiana. But we are happy to report that two of last year’s DAR (Direct Autumn Release) cranes are the FIRST Whooping Cranes to finish their fall migration to Florida. Year-old cranes #27-06 and #28-06 made the trip in just 4 days!

Meanwhile, our young cranes need a lot of human help to make their first migration and learn the way. Luckily, people like Nadia and her family are helping too! They folded over 1,000 paper cranes to raise money to help pay for this year's ultralight-led migration. Nadia (photo above) shares the story and pictures in a slide show that will inspire you. The Operation Migration team gave her a very special thanks! >>

In the Classroom

  • Today's Journal Question: Nadia said, "What I have learned from this project is that anyone can make a difference. . .If kids start trying to help animals and the environment now, then maybe someday our world will be a better place to live for everyone." What are ways YOU might be able to help the cranes or other animals and the environment?

Journey North is pleased to feature this educational adventure presented in cooperation with the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP).
