Week 2: Two Stops and a Surprise (Total Gone: 19 Miles)
October 13, 2014
Weekly Updates

The cranes and planes chalked up 19 miles in the first two days of their journey south, but not all by air. On day 2's take off for Stopover #2, four of the cranes did something that's never happened in 13 years of aircraft-led crane migrations: They turned back to their training site! See updated bio pages to discover how your favorite crane did on flight days one and two of their first migration. Meanwhile, days 3 and 4 were down time as warm winds from the south brought rain and stalled the migration at Stopover #2. They're in Marquette County, Wisconsin awaiting good weather so they can head for Stopover #3. Until our next weekly summary on October 20, see live action on Operation Migration's crane cam and flight cam channels, and daily updates at Operation Migration.
