Week 8: Zooming Ahead! (Total Gone: 812 Miles)
December 1, 2014
Weekly Updates

Wahoo! Tailwinds and twofers gained 243 miles of fantastic progress through Alabama. Flying without cranes #4 and #10 also helped. Those two birds had led the others to follow them in dropping out, so the team decided to crate and drive them. It worked: The other five soared as never before. With about 300 miles to go, they are just a few more flights from their winter home in Florida! See our next weekly summary December 8 — or a news flash if they finish sooner. Until then, read latest details on bio pages, including next plans for #4 and #10. See live action on Operation Migration's crane cam and flight cam channels. Daily updates appear at Operation Migration.

The young cranes achieved an altitude of 5,200 feet on Nov. 28!
