It's celebration time! The seven young cranes in the Class of 2014 flew the final 23 miles to their Florida winter home this morning, completing their first journey south. Congratulations to the birds and the Operation Migration Team! Come spring, this will be a journey north to watch: The young birds were trucked for more most of the first half of the migration route, no thanks to good-weather days as rare as Whooping Cranes. Once they migrate back to where they were unloaded from the long drive, will they instintively fly due north the rest of the way? Or will they join up there with older cranes and follow them? The story continues during spring migration. Until then, the birds' bio pages will be updated and winter progress reports will appear on the website of Operation Migration. Thanks for joining us!
