Time Zone Riddles

The time zone map shows how the world is divided into 24 time zones. The time in each zone is called Local Time, and is based on the sun's daily cycle. Challenge students to write and solve time zone riddles. Here are some samples:

  • I live two hours east of the Prime Meridian. I am the largest land mammal on my continent. What am I and where do I live?
  • I am the number of time zones located east of the Prime Meridian.
  • I am the country extends across three time zones. In the time zone farthest to the east, it's 9 hours earlier than in Greenwich. Who am I?
  • I am the time in India when the U.S. President called from the White House at midnight. Who am I?
