How Many Monarchs in a Single Photo?

We didn't want to even try to count all of the butterflies! We used part of the photo to make our estimate.
- First we divided the photo into equal squares by using a grid.
- Then we counted the number of squares. (How many do you count?)
- Next, we took a close-up view of one square. We chose the square in the upper left corner. (The red arrow is pointing to the square.)
