How Far to Mexico from Grape Creek, Texas?

About this photo: In his back yard in Grape Creek, Texas (31 N, -100 W), Mr. Alley discovered this tagged monarch butterfly. He took this picture so carefully that you can even read the number on the butterfly's tag! The monarchs arrived on October 8th and formed a roost. On October 15th, exactly one week later, the butterflies departed. You can see a picture of the roost and read his field notes. >>

Somebody, somewhere tagged this butterfly sometime before October 11th, the day Mr. Alley took the picture. All butterflies must fly through Texas on their way to Mexico, so it's fun to imagine where this monarch was tagged.
