1.
Go to Journey North's online
interactive map.
|
2.
One-by-one, "zoom in" to each state and province. Look
at the symbols (brown squares) that show where Journey North gardens
have been planted.
|
3. While
you work, carefully inspect a map that shows the location of state
and provincial capitals. If you think a symbol on the Journey
North
map marks a capital city garden grab the "i" tool (see
below) and "click on" that symbol. Try to click on as
few symbols as possible as you work to find the gardens. Don't be
fooled by gardens that aren't close to capital cities!
|
4. When you click on the correct location, you will find
a colorful icon that proclaims the location of a "Journey
North Capital City Garden."
|
5.
Try this example. Can you find the location of the Capital City
Garden in Concord, New Hampshire?
|
Variations |
A.
After you've found the gardens, play over and over. Time yourself
to see how quickly you can find all of the gardens. |
B.
Missing
gardens: Find the name of the city in each state/province CLOSEST
to the capital city. (Unfortunately, we don't have gardens yet in
every capital city.)
(*In the spring, you may want to use these "nearby gardens"
as substitutes for the missing capital cities.) |
