Why
Participate in the Journey North Tulip Garden Study?
Hundreds
of school groups dig in each year to participate in this big experiment.
Here's a sampling of goals you have shared: |
|
- We
are required to discuss plant growth and the signs of the seasons in
our science and social studies units. Kindergarden,
Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary, Cogan Station, PA (See Spotlight >>)
- The fifth
grade team has decided to "Go Green" this year and this project
is a perfect start. Grade 5, Schweinfurt Elementary
School, Schweinfurt, Germany
- We hope
to learn more about the scientific method, controlling variables, and
how to keep a journal in science. Grade 5, Hillside
School, Randolf, NJ
- We will
do cross-curricular activities with the science, reading, and language
arts teachers.
Grade 6, Western Greenbrier Middle School, Lewisburg,
WV
- This project
would add a national dimension to our plant and ecosystem studies, helping
us to understand how location and climate influence growth in different
parts of the US.
Grade 7, Bell Homeschool, Oak Grove, MN
- Our collaborative
science class is focusing on environmental education this year. We are
beginning to plan an outdoor classroom and nature trail, which our tulip
garden will be a part of. Grade 7, Taylro County Middle
School, Grafton, WV
- We are
using this project as an environmental Science educational activity
and as a service project. Grade 8, Shelby County 4-H
Environmental, Arlington, TN

be using this activity to learn about bulbs, scientific method, hardiness,
and plant cultivars/varieties.
