We wrote to these gardeners to find out if they had gone out and checked their garden. They wrote back to explain:

"Our tulips have not emerged yet, so we did some digging around to see what we could find out. The tulips are close to emerging, about three inches from the surface. Part of the problem may be that we had to use Pink Emperor bulbs because all of the red ones were sold out.
