Tulips Emerging in January?!

What? Tulips emerging in January? Gardeners comment on unusual events:

  • “Last week the weather was quite spring-like with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. It didn't surprise me when I checked the tulip beds this week in front of school that 19 out of our 80 or so tulips had emerged!” NY 01/15/08
  • “We noticed that about half of our bulbs have emerged. Most of them are tiny, but two of them are about 2 inches tall.” Moultrie, GA 01/17/08
  • “Our tulips have emerged! We have had very warm weather during the month of January.” Norman Park, GA 01/30/08
