Tulip Garden
2008-2009
Students
in Ismayilli were excited to share their news. Their tulip garden
bloomed March 18, 2009. Something amazing happened to one of their
tulips; it had 8 petals and 8 stamens! |
Here
is the class with their garden. They have an interesting grid system
for organizing the plants. |

It was difficult to get the tulips for the experiment. Fortunately,
teacher, Ulviyye Tahirova was able to buy them during a fall trip
to London.
This
class partnered this year with Mark Gullickson's class in Albany,
Oregon. |

Unusual
8-part tulips. |

The tulip garden blossomed later than
usual, and spring is also late in Azerbaijan. They are still waiting.
On April 16, 2009, it snowed in Ismayilli! They wonder if this is
another example of climate change!
