11 Years of Data from Virginia Living Museum
Children's Learning Garden

History of the Garden:
We began the Children’s Learning Garden with Journey North tulips back in 1998. This is our 11th year of blooms. We thought you’d like to see the data we’ve gathered over the last 11 years!
Record of Journey North Tulips in Virginia Living Museum’s Children’s Learning Garden by our after school classes*

From the first planting of the garden, Journey North tulips were planted in a slightly raised bed under a red bay tree. The original bed and tree were removed in 2007, along with the tulips when they finished blooming. This removal allows more light into the garden.
The new triangular raised bed was installed [in the same place as the tree’s original bed] before the planting of tulips there in fall 2007.
