As May comes to a close, monarchs are busy producing their next generation in the north:

  • Excited monarch spotters in Sault Ste. Marie, ON reported, "We have seen two monarchs as of Sunday May, 20/07. It is starting to warm up here now, so we expect to see more soon. But now we can welcome summer, the monarchs are here!"

  • "The peak spring egg laying has occurred in Minneapolis and St. Paul." After extreme temperature drop and return of average temperatures a Minneapolis spotter reported a flush of egg laying. Within a 3-day period they counted 74 eggs on their milkweed.
