Nearing Northern Limits
Eastern and Western monarchs are nearing the northern limits of their breeding grounds. Please keep reporting your observations of adult monarchs, eggs, larvae, and milkweed.
Eastern Monarch Population
Eastern Monarch Spring 2023 Report #9
In last week’s update, the leading edge of migration was hovering between latitude 46–49°N; this week, it is around latitude 51–52°N. Farther east, activity continues to pick up in Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia, but no reports yet from Prince Edward Island. Though monarchs are reaching their northern limits, please keep reporting your monarchs and milkweed at any life stage.
Western Monarch Population
Out west, reporting has slowed again. What are you seeing? Please submit your observational reports of monarchs, monarch eggs, monarch larvae, and milkweed. Your reports are critical to our understanding of the migration.
