Wondering

March 8, 2017 by Mary Hosier

The spring equinox is just around the corner. How will longer days of sunlight affect plant growth?

“I wonder what color the flowers will be. I wonder if butterflies will like them. I wonder if they will smell good.” Ms. Madanski’s class in Toledo, Ohio on February 27.

What do you see when you look closely at your garden? Go out to your tulip Test Garden often for measuring, comparing, and describing your plants as they grow and change.

“Some tulips looked like Hershey kisses, some looked like rockets, and some felt like crayons.” Ashland, Ohio on February 28.

“They were red and brown. We were surprised that 21 of them had been dug up. We wonder what happened.”  Douglas, Michigan on March 3.

“Tulips emerged about a half inch over the past weeks mild spell.” Oil Springs, Ontario on March 6.

“Third graders at St. Matthias will record the growth of the tulips during their life cycle.” Lanham, Maryland on February 24.
