Visits to Schools Resume After Holidays
Symbolic Monarch Migration News Update
After a long Winter Break, visits to schools have resumed. To date, Ms. Romero has delivered over 850 Ambassadors to students in fifteen Mexican schools. We hope that you will find the time to view photos and read her posts. Your Ambassadors are truly making an impact on the students in Mexico!
As Janet remarked: “Teacher Estelita, look how my heart is jumping at such a great time we all have had today at receiving our Ambassador butterflies,” while putting her little hand on her left side below her pink jacket to show how her heart was jumping.
Panchito said: “I will not be able to forget you“.
Ms. Romero encounters similar sentiments during her visits to various schools. The combination of conservation lessons and imaginative paper butterflies sparks joy and enthusiasm among students in Mexico. The teachings on water conservation are having a positive impact, with an increasing number of students demonstrating awareness and concern for our waterways. Ms. Romero extends her gratitude for positively influencing the children in this meaningful way.

The Symbolic Monarch Migration is a project of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum) and Monarchs Across Georgia (a committee of the nonprofit organization, the Environmental Education Alliance). Journey North manages the interactive Symbolic Monarch Migration Participant Maps and hosts educational materials on its website. Monarchs Across Georgia administers the project including coordinating the exchange of symbolic butterflies among 2000+ classrooms in three countries, engaging a contract worker to provide lessons and deliver materials in Mexico, and raising funds for the project’s continuation.
