Highlights:
"I live north of Kettle Falls, in the Boyds area. There is a nest
perched high above in the pines that I have been observing.
Friday I saw a Bald eagle sitting in the nest.
I could just make out the white head. Perched a few feet above was another
eagle
sitting on a branch. I've seen this nest for the past 4 years." Kettle
Falls,
WA 03/28/08
Heavy rain,
wind and snow sweeping across the continent this week kept people running
for cover. But what about the birds left to find their
shelter? Eagles U21, S28, and U25 continue to hold steady on their
winter grounds this week. U27 and the Golden R24 seem unfazed by the
weather. Study this week's maps to learn where these 2 eagles have
traveled in their spring 2008 migrations.

What
does it look like where she is? A map built using satellite images
(Google Maps) allows us to peek at the terrain at her

Explore: Adaptations
that Help Eagles Survive |
Let's
take a close look at eagles, from head to wing tip to toe, and find
out what makes them successful predators.
How
an eagle looks and behaves can tell us a lot about how it
has adapted to survive. There's always a WHY behind WHAT you
see. >> |

News
From New Hampshire |
The
NH Eagles
Chris
Martin reports this week, "The eagles have
won the first round, and I have been reminded that nature
is not always
as predictable
as one
might wish. Winter is transitioning into spring and so
are field work tasks. Despite our best efforts, we were
unable to lure eagles to our bait with enough frequency
to make deployment of the rocket net possible. They seemed
to have ample food supplies elsewhere along the river,
and we were committed to trapping at this particular
site."
Stay
tuned to learn about plans for capturing eagles next fall/winter.
