Highlights: Males Arriving First
Males were in the lead this week as the Ruby-throat migration moved north to Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, and New Jersey.

"The first male hummingbird came to my feeder this morning. It's exactly the same day the first one arrived last year!"

Rufous in Idaho
As it happens each year in early April, some Rufous continue migrating north along the coast while others begin veering east. The first sighting from Idaho was reported this week.

"After monitoring their migration east across Washington state, I decided to hang 2 feeders today. This afternoon a Rufous visited."

Western Species
Broad-tailed hummingbirds were reported along the western edge of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado this week. These hardy hummingbirds often inhabit subalpine meadows.

"I saw a Broad-tailed at 2:00 this afternoon. Last year I used 115 lbs. of sugar. The little fellers make me so happy."
