March is peak migration month. Know what to watch for with our robin observation checklist!

American Robin
When is Spring? by Wade Snyder

Highlights: Weather Slows Migration

March is peak migration month but severe weather from coast to coast has us off to a very slow start. Wave reports still outnumber those of robin song and first-seen robins. Again, Florida reported the most waves, many with 100 or more robins.

What's Next?
If the cold weather breaks, it won’t be long before our summer robins return and the overwintering robins head further north. We'll see the abundance of robins shift dramatically as spring migration begins. Winter behavior still dominates. But singing to defend a territory? In most places, not quite yet.

"Robins everywhere on the ground and in the trees. Beautiful!"
