  • Where Did Your Symbolic Butterflies Land?
    We've set up this meeting place so you can tell the stories of the butterflies you received and find out where your own butterflies landed!
  • Symbolic Migration Update: May 5, 2003
    The butterflies are returning to your mailboxes! After a journey of as many as 4,000 miles your paper butterflies will return with messages from children from the sanctuary region. Watch for special tags and a bright yellow newsletter. Share your stories with students - let them know their butterflies landed in your classroom!
  • Symbolic Monarch Update: April 11, 2003
    The symbolic butterflies are almost ready for the last leg of their journey! Pictured here are your butterflies and the Journey North in Minnesota, getting packed. **Mark your calendar: Homecoming for Symbolic Monarchs: May 15, 2002 ** Adios Angangueo! Visit the Video Gallery, and look back on the butterflies' winter stay in Mexico.

  • Symbolic Monarchs Now in Mexico!
    Over 50,000 Symbolic Monarchs are now in the monarch sanctuary region, deep in central Mexico. We're busy finding winter homes for them. Watch for ocassional updates during the spring Journey North program.

    fall2002_0016Remember, the postmark deadline for your Symbolic Monarchs is Friday, October 11. Confused about sending your Butterflies to Journey North? We'll clear things up for you to help make a successful migration. Plus, learn how you can make a difference.
  • Symbolic Monarchs Arriving at Staging Grounds in Minnesota: October 15, 2002
    fall2002_0037Symbolic Butterflies are now arriving by the thousands at the first stop of their long migration to Mexico. At the Journey North Headquarters in Minnesota, the pile of packages gets higher and higher every day. It's amazing to see where the Symbolic Monarchs come from! Here are pictures and a movie, so you can see how it looks on this end. Mark your calendar so you can track their journey to Mexico!
  • Symbolic Migration Update: October 23, 2002
    fall2002_0148If you could only hear all of the ooohs and aaahs as we open each and every envelope of your beautiful butterflies! And we're amazed at the number and diversity of schools, groups and organizations that are participating. Take a look at the Journey North office and be sure to tour the Art Gallery too--do you see your Butterflies? And thanks for all of the generous donations you sent--will it set a record this year? Mark your calendar so you can track the Butterflies final migration to Mexico!
  • Symbolic Migration Update: November 5, 2002
    "All a Boaarrrd?!" Your Symbolic Butterflies have begun the final leg of their migration to Mexico. Check the Passenger List to make sure your Butterflies are on board. Predict how many Symbolic Butterflies there are, and when they'll reach their winter home in Angangueo, Mexico.
  • FINAL FALL Symbolic Migration Update: November 20, 2002
    fall2002_0018Your Symbolic Butterflies have arrived safely in the Sanctuaries in Mexico! And we're on our way there to distribute them to schools in the area. How close was your estimate of their arrival time? Of their total number? Several of your estimates were very close! A heartfelt thanks to all of you for who made donations to the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Foundation--you are making a difference! Stay tuned for the return of the Symbolic Butterflies next spring! And here's one last chance to be sure your butterflies were on the Passenger List.
