A Day in the Life of Miranda
Toad: Within ten minutes of going under her log, Miranda was back out in the open. Look at her bulgy eyes. Not only do those big eyes help her to see, they also help her swallow! When Miranda catches worms, insects, and other meals, her tongue pushes them to the back of her mouth, and her eyes squeeze in, pushing the food down her throat. That evening at dusk, when Laura went to sleep, Miranda was at her usual spot. So many male toads had been calling all day that Laura wondered if Miranda would be there in the morning. What do you think? Look on Page 6 to find out.
