9 Wallingford, Connecticut 41 N, -72 W Within the course of one hour, I counted 11 monarch butterflies heading south through my yard. |
At 6:00 p.m. I noticed clusters of monarchs in our maple tree. There were about 10 - 30 in a cluster. When a butterfly would come into roost, the others would flap their wings but remain roosted. A thunderstorm blew through this morning and I did not see them as I glanced over to leave for work. They may have gone elsewhere or deeper into the tree. They were there when I went to bed at 10 so I know they roosted. | September
30 Grover, Missouri 39 N, -91W The afternoon temperature was in the mid 80's and a strong wind was blowing from the south. I counted 13 Monarchs in a 2 hour period...Most were feeding off a butterfly bush and resting in a Sweet Gum Tree. They were so bright and beautiful! |

I
was in my yard and noticed quite a few monarchs flying around. As I started
trimming trees they were flying out of the trees! I then started looking
for them and all my trees were covered with monarchs, 100's and 100's
of them. This was around 5:00 pm. |

30 South Boston, Massachusetts 42 N, -71W I went out by boat to Lovell’s Island in Boston Harbor last Sunday (9/30) and saw hundreds of Monarchs sipping on Seaside Goldenrod. They were simply everywhere. I went out on Thursday (10/4) and quite a few butterflies were still there. |
