Highlights:
Don't Confuse the Bulbs!
This week we had a whooping 49 MORE gardens reporting their
tulips emerged and 8 more have bloomed!
In the
Northeast this week gardeners returned to winter - momentarily.
Reporting in from NJ, "On
Wednesday, March 14th, 3 of this year's bulbs just began to emerge.
Today, March 16th it is snowing again (6"). We are hoping that this
will not
confuse our bulbs!" (Read

Here's
a challenge — can you find the blooming garden at

Explore: Hello
from Our Journey North Garden! |
While
we are waiting for spring to spread across the map we’ll focus
on special gardens each week. This week we have 2 gardens for you to
explore!
First
Grade, Terry A. Taylor Elementary, Spencerport, NY
“I'm
sending pictures of the map that we've been using to chart the
arrival of spring.
We have been
checking the Journey North site everyday to update our reporting
map. We
add green triangles for areas that are observing emerging tulips
and we
are using red circles for the areas that have blooming tulips."

Students in Nottingham, England announced their tulip garden started blooming
this week. The garden, located at (52.9N, -1.08W) bloomed on March 15. Was
YOUR prediction correct?
Study this week's map. Then answer these questions: |
|
- What
other gardens are planted near 52N latitude?
- What
geographic features are near this garden? The other gardens (mountains,
bodies of water)?
- Are
any of the gardens emerged yet? When? Are any blooming yet? When?
